Client Service

Your First Visit

At your first visit you will be asked about your current health and we will need a list of your current medication. We will need your doctors name and address and your address and contact details. The information you give us will be kept in the strictest of confidence. We use a computer data base to store all our patient’s details and treatments. This information is not given to third parties without your permission. The practice is registered for data protection.

It is important that we get an understanding of your health in order to reach a treatment plan. Following a thorough examination of your feet, we will advise you on the full range of treatments available so that an appropriate treatment plan can be made.

What we need to know

When you attend your first appointment we will ask you to complete a questionnaire with a variety of personal and medical questions. All the questions we ask are relevant to your treatment and if you have a queries please ask. We are bound by the Data Protection Act (1998) and are registered the Information Commissioner. Your data will only be used for the purposes of your medical records with us and we do not share this information with third parties. As with all health and medical professions we are bound by patient confidentiality.

We will ask you about aspects of your medical care such as conditions from which you are suffering, medications you take and operations you may have undergone. We do not ask theses to be nosy but to help form a picture of your health and wellbeing which will help us decide what treatments to carryout. If you are not accurate in the answers that you provide we will be unable to give you accurate advice or carry out our treatments correctly.

Should there be any changes in your health, medications or personal details please advise us at your next appointment. We will always endeavour to ask about any changes when you attend.

It is advisable to bring with you a current list of your prescribed medication with you to your appointments.

Consent to Treatment

You will receive a written consent form for you to sign at your first treatment and you may receive additional consent forms should you require any advanced practice treatments. Should you wish to withdraw your consent to treatment at any time please let us know. By signing the consent forms you are stating that you have your own right of consent for medical treatments. Minors (under 16 years old) will require a parent or guardian to sign their consent form and accompany them to their appointments and to be present at all times during treatments.

What We Do

During your appointment we will assess your foot health as well as how it relates to your general wellbeing. When we carry out treatment on your feet we will use tools and instruments suitable for podiatry treatment. This includes scalpels and other sharp instruments. Whilst every care is taken during your treatment there is a slight risk of skin puncture during your treatment. This risk can be increased by factors such as poor quality of skin or if you are taking blood thinners (anti-coagulants). Please make sure your feet are washed and clean prior to your appointment.

Cancellations and Failure to Attend

Should you no longer require your appointment please give us as much notice as possible . We reserve the right to charge for appointments that are cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice or where a patient has failed to attend. We offer a telephone reminder service should you require it, please do ask.
